ON FIRE is a celebration of clay, fire, and community — an exhibition dedicated to the art of wood-fired ceramics. Brought together by a shared kiln in Gmunden, Austria, sixteen artists present works born directly from clay, ash and flame.
Over days and nights of tending the fire and listening to the kiln, each piece that emerges from the embers carries traces of that collective ritual. The effects produced by the atmosphere in the kiln and the ash settling on the ceramic surfaces, show how nature and craft work together.
The exhibition will feature sculptures, tableware and large vases — a range of functional and expressive pieces that reveal the diverse ways fire and clay work together.
